Description

A slim black tube that hangs from a magnetic track, this one puts a tight pool of warm white light exactly where you point it. The integrated LED draws 5W and delivers 400 lumens, which suits a single focused pool rather than lighting a whole room. At 30mm across, the body stays discreet and the beam does the talking. Warm white keeps timber, plaster and food looking natural. Power and dimming signal come through the track, and the driver is included.

We reach for one of these where a fixed row of downlights would be too rigid: over a kitchen island, along a dining table, above a run of worktop, or picking out shelves, art and glassware. Each head hangs on its own adjustable drop, so heights can be varied along a track to suit the surfaces below. It dims with a Triac dimmer, bought separately, and there is a controller in the range made for that job. Keep it to rooms that stay dry, which covers kitchens, dining rooms, hallways and studies.

The black finish carries the full length of the tube, cap to cap, so it reads as one clean line whether it is lit or not. For upkeep, let it cool, then run a dry cloth along the body, and keep polishes and sprays away from the contact head at the top. It carries a three year warranty. We hold the rest of the system too: surface and recessed track, end caps, L-joints for turning a corner wall to wall or square, and the dimming controller, so a whole run can be put together from one range. The LED is built in, so there is no lamp to change.
