Description

A slim bar of warm light rather than a cluster of spots, this head runs 250mm along the track and just 25mm across, so the hardware stays quiet and the light does the work. The LED is integral, rated at 20W, and a driver is included. The warm white it gives is easy on the eye and holds colour well on timber and paintwork. It is not dimmable, so we would put it where full output is wanted every time the switch goes on.

We use linear heads like this where a row of separate spots would look busy: over a kitchen island, along a bookcase, above a worktop, or lighting a run of pictures in a hallway. The narrow body reads as part of the track rather than an object sitting on it, which helps in open plan rooms and home offices where the ceiling already has a lot going on. The beam is contained enough to graze a wall or pick out a surface without washing the whole room, and the warm tone keeps it comfortable in the evening. Keep it to dry rooms indoors.

The finish is black from end to end, so it sits away against black track and keeps a clean line on a pale ceiling. For cleaning, switch off at the wall, give the head a moment, then run a dry cloth along the top face; dust gathers on a flat profile and will show in the beam before anywhere else. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the rest of the Magneto range beside it, including shallow and deep surface track, recessed track, corner joints and end caps, all in black, so a run can be built up in stages and rearranged later if the room changes.
