Description

A narrow gold cone, 76mm across at the mouth, sending a tight pool of light straight down onto whatever sits beneath it. The LED sits inside and draws 12W for 950 lumens of warm white, and the drop can be set high or low to suit the surface below. Dimming is done through a triac dimmer, which is bought separately.

Track suits rooms where light needs to land in particular places rather than everywhere at once: a kitchen island, a run of counter, a long dining table, a shelf of glassware or books. Because the head slides along the track and the drop shortens or lengthens, you can move the light after the furniture has moved, which a fixed point cannot do. It is one we reach for in kitchens with an island of an awkward shape, and in a home office where a task light is wanted directly overhead. The narrow beam keeps spill off the surrounding walls.

The cone itself is small, finished in gold and black, so it reads warm against a pale ceiling and settles quietly onto a black track. There is no lamp to change here; the LED and its driver arrive as one piece, so upkeep comes down to keeping the gold clean. Switch off at the wall, let the cone sit until cool, then wipe the outside with a dry cloth and leave polishes and sprays well alone. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the Magneto track in shallow surface, deep surface and recessed versions, along with corner joints, end caps and the triac controller the system needs, so a single cone or a whole row can be worked out to the length of the room.

Do I need a separate dimmer?

Yes. The head is triac dimmable but no dimmer comes with it. The Magneto triac and push switch dimmable controller, rated 12 to 48V and up to 720W, covers a whole system with one unit.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable between 1360mm and 1860mm, measured from the track, so it can be dropped over an island or lifted clear of a walkway.

What light does it give out?

950 lumens at 3000K, a warm white, with a colour rendering index of 90 or above and a 38 degree beam, so colours hold up well and the pool of light stays contained.

Can the LED be replaced?

No. The LED and driver are integral, rated for an average life of 30,000 hours, and the unit is replaced as a whole at the end of that.

Which track does it fit?

It is made for the Magneto system. The deep surface and pendant track is the one to pair it with for a hanging head, and we also stock the recessed and shallow surface options for other heads in the range.

Is it suitable for a bathroom or outside?

No. It is rated IP20, so keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from splashes and weather.
