Description

A small ball shade drops from a slender suspension on this magnetic track head, so the light sits down at eye level rather than up in the ceiling line. The ball measures 95mm across, which keeps it discreet enough to repeat along a run without the ceiling looking crowded. The LED is built in and gives a warm white 3000K output, and the driver is part of the fitting, so nothing extra is needed alongside it. It is not dimmable, and the light level is fixed at full.

We reach for these over kitchen islands and long worktops, where a row of small pendants gives better light on the surface than a single fitting can. The adjustable suspension means heads over a table can sit lower than heads over a walkway on the same run. It draws 10W, which is modest enough that several can share one track without much thought about load. The warm tone suits rooms where you want the light to feel soft in the evening rather than clinical, so kitchens, dining rooms and bar areas all take it well.

The head and shade are black, and the finish sits happily with black track, sockets and ironmongery elsewhere in a kitchen. Dust it with a dry duster now and then; if fingermarks show on the ball, a barely damp cloth and a dry buff afterwards will lift them, with the power off first. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the track sections, L-joints and end caps in black alongside it, so a run can be built to the shape of the room and finished off neatly at each end. Being an integrated LED, there is no lamp to change.
