Description

This is the linear track light in the Magneto range: a short, narrow black bar that gives a broad wash of light rather than a tight spot. The integrated LED draws 10W and puts out 800 lumens of warm white, close in tone to an old filament lamp, so it flatters timber, brick and painted plaster instead of cooling them. It dims with a triac dimmer, and we stock the Magneto controller for that job. The driver is built in.

We reach for a linear head like this where a row of round spots would look busy: over a kitchen island, along a bank of shelves, above a long dining table. The light is drawn out along the fitting rather than pinched into a circle, which makes it kinder for close work and easier to sit beneath. It suits open-plan rooms where the track already carries pendants and spots, and anyone who wants the whole run on a single dimmer. Aimed at a painting or a plant, it works without the hard edge of a narrow beam.

The finish is black across the whole fitting, so it reads as a quiet dark line on a pale ceiling rather than jewellery. Keep it to dry rooms: kitchens, hallways, living spaces, studies. Cleaning asks little of you: with the power off and the fitting cold, wipe the housing and lens with a dry microfibre cloth and leave solvents and polishes well alone. It carries a three year warranty. The rest of the range comes in the same black, with surface and recessed track, corner joints and end caps, so a run can be shaped to the room. The LED is built in and stays with the fitting.

How much light does it give, and what tone?

It produces 800 lumens from a 10W integrated LED, at 3000K warm white. That is a soft, slightly golden light rather than a crisp white one.

What do I need to dim it?

A triac dimmer is required and no dimmer comes with the fitting. We stock the Magneto triac and push switch controller, which handles up to 720W and is used one per system.

What size is the head?

It measures 200mm long and 25mm wide, with a height of 140mm, so it stays visually slim against a ceiling line.

Can the LED be changed later?

No, the LED is integral to the fitting. It is rated for an average life of 30,000 hours, so in ordinary domestic use that is many years of evening light.

Can it go in a bathroom or outside?

No. It is rated IP20, which means dry interior rooms only, away from splashes, steam zones and the weather.
