Description
The MAGfire Red Banshee is a combined sounder and strobe beacon in a red polycarbonate housing with an IP66 weatherproof rating. The unit integrates an audible alarm sounder with a high-intensity strobe light behind a Fresnel lens, allowing both visual and audible notification from a single device. The black polycarbonate base includes two flanged mounting lugs for surface fixing to external walls, soffits or security posts.
Designed for outdoor fire alarm systems, security installations and industrial alert networks where both visual and audible signalling is needed in exposed locations, the IP66 rating protects the internal sounder and strobe circuitry from dust ingress and high-pressure water jets from any direction. The red lens colour is standard for fire alarm and emergency applications, providing clear visual distinction from amber or blue strobes used in other notification contexts.
The unit measures 95mm square at the base and 90mm tall, with a combined net weight of 250g making it suitable for fixing to timber cladding, masonry or metal security infrastructure without additional support bracketing. The Fresnel-patterned lens focuses the strobe output into a directional beam, increasing visibility at distance compared to a flat diffuser, while the integral sounder provides localised audible output without needing a separate sounder box.

Frequently Asked
What does IP66 mean?
IP66 indicates complete protection from dust ingress (the first '6') and protection from high-pressure water jets from any direction (the second '6'). The Red Banshee can be installed in fully exposed outdoor locations including rain, snow and high-wind environments without the electronics degrading.
What voltage does it operate on?
Refer to the Product Specification Sheet in the Downloads tab for the exact operating voltage and current draw. Most MAGfire conventional sounders and strobes operate on 12V or 24V DC fire alarm panel outputs.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes. The IP66 rating makes the unit suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Indoors it may be specified for environments where moisture, dust or cleaning with pressure washers is expected, such as commercial kitchens, warehouses or car washes.
How is it wired?
The Red Banshee connects to a fire alarm control panel or security system via conventional two-wire or four-wire terminals inside the base. Refer to the Product Manual in the Downloads tab for full wiring diagrams and terminal assignments.
