Description

The MAGfire conventional sounder is a surface-mount fire alarm sounder delivering 86-96dBA sound output at 1 metre, designed for installation on conventional fire alarm systems operating at 24VDC. The white thermoplastic housing measures 90mm x 60mm x 100mm and mounts directly to wall or ceiling surfaces without requiring a separate back box.

Designed for commercial, industrial and residential fire alarm installations where audible alerts are required under BS 5839 or similar standards, the sounder draws 6mA at 24VDC and connects to conventional fire alarm control panels via two-wire terminals. The IP21C rating provides protection against ingress of solid objects larger than 12.5mm and vertically falling water droplets, making it suitable for dry interior spaces including corridors, offices, plant rooms and service areas.

The sounder produces a continuous tone when activated by the fire alarm panel, with output volume adjustable depending on local regulations and room acoustics. The 120g weight and compact footprint allow installation on plasterboard, masonry or timber stud partitions without additional structural support. The white finish blends into ceiling and wall surfaces in commercial and public buildings where discrete alarm devices are preferred over high-visibility red housings.

Frequently Asked

What voltage does this sounder require?

The MAGfire conventional sounder operates on 24VDC supplied from a conventional fire alarm control panel. It draws 6mA when activated and connects via two-wire terminals to the alarm zone circuit.

What is the sound output level?

The sounder delivers 86-96dBA measured at 1 metre distance. The exact output within this range depends on the applied voltage and sounder configuration. Check local fire safety regulations for minimum sound level requirements in the specific installation environment.

Can this be used outdoors or in wet areas?

No. The IP21C rating provides protection against vertically falling water droplets only, suitable for dry interior spaces. For bathrooms, external areas or environments with regular moisture exposure, a higher IP-rated sounder is required.

What mounting method does it use?

The sounder is surface-mounted directly to walls or ceilings using two screw fixings through the back plate. No separate back box is required. The 120g weight allows fixing to plasterboard with appropriate wall plugs or direct fixing to masonry or timber.
