Description
The ESP MAGfire CB-1R is a combined fire alarm sounder and visual strobe device housed in a red polycarbonate enclosure with an IP45 ingress protection rating. The unit produces a Banshee-style audio tone between 89-110 dBA alongside a synchronised red strobe flash at 60 flashes per minute, providing dual audio-visual alerting in a single 95mm diameter mounting point.
Designed for conventional fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial and residential settings where simultaneous sound and visual signalling is required, the CB-1R suits corridors, open-plan offices, factories, warehouses and external covered areas protected from direct rain ingress. The IP45 rating provides protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the device suitable for installation in moderately dusty or damp environments where full weatherproofing is not required.
The red translucent polycarbonate lens covers a Fresnel-pattern strobe element that distributes the flash across a wide viewing angle, while the sounder element behind the same housing delivers the Banshee tone through perforations in the base. The combined unit draws 40 mA for the strobe plus the sounder current on a 12V or 24V DC conventional alarm loop, depending on the control panel configuration. At 250g net weight and 95mm diameter, the unit mounts to a standard UK fire alarm backbox using two fixing screws.

Frequently Asked
What voltage does the CB-1R operate on?
The MAGfire CB-1R operates on either 12V DC or 24V DC depending on the fire alarm control panel output. Refer to the Downloads tab for the full voltage specification and current draw at each voltage.
Can this be installed outdoors?
The IP45 rating protects against dust and low-pressure water jets, making the unit suitable for covered external areas such as canopies, loading bays and covered walkways. It is not rated for direct exposure to rain or weather.
What is the coverage area for the strobe?
The Fresnel-pattern strobe lens distributes the flash across a wide horizontal and vertical angle. For specific coverage distances and mounting height recommendations, refer to the Product Manual in the Downloads tab.
Is the tone adjustable?
No. The CB-1R produces a fixed Banshee tone at 89-110 dBA output. The sound level variation within that range depends on distance from the device and the mounting surface reflectivity.
