Description

The MAGfire Bedhead Conventional Sounder is a flush-mount fire alarm sounder designed for installation in bedhead panels, patient rooms and care home environments where a low-profile alarm device is needed. The sounder delivers 86-96dBA sound output measured at 1 metre, operating on 24VDC with a current draw of 6mA. The white plastic faceplate is secured with two visible fixings and measures 90mm x 90mm, sitting approximately 40mm deep when flush-mounted.

Designed for conventional fire alarm systems rather than addressable loops, the sounder connects directly to a fire panel's sounder circuit and activates when the circuit is energised. The IP21 rating provides protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm and vertically dripping water, making it suitable for indoor use in dry or occasionally humid environments but not for wet rooms or outdoor installation. The 86-96dBA output range is field-adjustable via an internal setting, allowing the alarm volume to be tailored to room acoustics and local regulations.

The flush-mount design allows the sounder to be recessed into bedhead trunking or wall-mounted panels without projecting significantly into the room, reducing the risk of accidental damage in patient care environments. The white finish blends with typical ceiling and wall panel colours in healthcare and residential settings. At 57g net weight the sounder places minimal load on the mounting surface.

Frequently Asked

What fire alarm systems is this compatible with?

The MAGfire Bedhead Sounder is designed for conventional (non-addressable) fire alarm systems. It connects to a sounder circuit on the fire panel and activates when the circuit is energised. It is not compatible with addressable or wireless systems without additional interfacing.

Can the sound output be adjusted?

Yes. The sounder has an internal adjustment allowing the output to be set between 86dBA and 96dBA measured at 1 metre. This allows installers to comply with local sound level requirements and adjust for room size and acoustics.

Is it suitable for wet rooms or outdoor use?

No. The IP21 rating provides basic protection against solid objects and vertically dripping water, but the sounder is not rated for wet rooms, shower areas or outdoor installation. For those applications a higher IP-rated device is required.

What depth of recess is needed for flush mounting?

The sounder sits approximately 40mm deep when flush-mounted. Standard bedhead trunking or wall panel cavities of 50mm or more provide adequate clearance for the device and wiring connections.
