Description

The MAGfire Banshee is a conventional fire alarm sounder in white ABS housing, delivering 89-110 dBA sound output at 1 metre distance. The sounder operates on a 3-39mA current draw and carries an IP45 rating, protecting against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for internal fire alarm installations in commercial, industrial and residential buildings.

Designed for hardwired conventional fire alarm systems, the Banshee mounts on a standard back box or surface-mount base and connects to the alarm panel's sounder circuit. The 89-110 dBA output range allows the installer to adjust volume based on room size and ambient noise levels, ensuring compliance with BS 5839 fire detection and alarm system standards for audibility. Is the IP45 rating suitable for outdoor installation?

No. IP45 protects against dust and low-pressure water jets, which is adequate for internal corridors, stairwells and plant rooms, but not for permanent outdoor exposure to rain, UV and temperature extremes. For outdoor fire alarm sounders, an IP65 or IP66 rated device is required.

How is the sound output adjusted?

The 89-110 dBA range is typically controlled by varying the input voltage or using panel-side settings, depending on the fire alarm control panel. Refer to the installation manual for adjustment instructions.

What is a conventional sounder?
