Description

The MagDuo is an 8-zone 2-wire fire alarm control panel in a black metal enclosure, certified to EN54-2/4 standards for commercial and residential fire detection installations. The panel supports up to 32 addressable devices per zone (subject to device loading unit ratings) across an 8-zone topology using a 2-wire connection protocol that reduces cable runs compared to conventional 4-wire systems.

Designed for commercial buildings, multi-occupancy housing, hospitality and retail installations requiring EN54-compliant fire detection, the MagDuo panel provides active end-of-line monitoring, device-type differentiation (smoke detector, heat detector or manual call point), and an event log storing up to 500 events. The 4-line x 20-character LCD display shows zone status, device type, fault conditions and alarm history. RS485 connectivity allows up to 8 repeater panels to be connected for distributed monitoring across larger sites.

The panel measures 340mm wide x 350mm tall x 101mm deep and weighs 2.4kg. The metal enclosure houses the control board, display module and battery compartment (requires 2 x 12V 2.3Ah batteries, sold separately as BAT32). Zones can be configured to day/night detection modes, and the alarm confirmation feature reduces false alarms by requiring confirmation before triggering full alarm protocols. An optional conventional zone card allows zones 5-8 to accept conventional devices alongside the addressable topology on zones 1-4.

The panel includes three enhanced test modes for commissioning and maintenance, programmable delay options for staged alarm sequences, and active head-removal monitoring that flags device tampering or removal before a detector is physically taken offline. The black finish provides a low-visibility option for installations where the panel is surface-mounted in public-facing areas.

The panel requires 2 x 12V 2.3Ah batteries for standby power during mains failure. These are sold separately under product code BAT32. The battery compartment is located inside the metal enclosure.

How many devices can be connected per zone?

Each zone supports up to 32 addressable devices, subject to the combined device loading unit (DLU) rating not exceeding the zone's capacity. Actual device count depends on the specific detectors, sounders and call points being used.

Can the panel be expanded beyond 8 zones?

The MagDuo supports up to 8 repeater panels via RS485 connection, allowing remote monitoring and control from distributed locations across larger sites. An optional conventional zone card also allows zones 5-8 to accept conventional devices alongside the addressable zones.

What certification does the panel carry?

The MagDuo is certified to EN54-2/4 standards for fire detection and fire alarm system control and indicating equipment. This certification is required for most commercial fire alarm installations in the UK and EU.
