Description

The MagDuo is a 4-zone 2-wire fire alarm panel certified to EN54-2/4 standards, designed for small to medium commercial and residential installations where a conventional fire alarm system is required. The panel supports up to 32 devices per zone (subject to Device Loading Unit ratings) across a two-wire topology, reducing installation complexity and cable costs compared to conventional 4-wire systems. A 4-line x 20-character LCD display shows system status, zone information and event logs in real time.

The panel differentiates between smoke detectors, heat detectors and manual call point activations, displaying the device type and zone location on the LCD when an alarm triggers. Active end-of-line monitoring detects head removal and wiring faults continuously, while an alarm confirmation feature reduces false alarms by requiring two devices in the same zone to trigger before sounding the alarm (configurable per zone). The RS485 connection supports up to 8 repeater panels for installations requiring remote displays or control points in separate areas of a building.

Three enhanced test modes allow installers and maintenance teams to verify detector sensitivity, test alarm circuits and check sounder outputs without triggering a full evacuation. The panel logs up to 500 events with timestamps, creating an audit trail for inspections and fault diagnosis. Each zone can be configured to day/night detection mode, adjusting sensitivity thresholds based on occupancy patterns, and delay programming options allow for phased evacuation sequences or investigation periods before full alarm activation.

The MagDuo requires two 12V 2.3Ah batteries (BAT32, sold separately) for standby power, with an optional extended battery box available to house two 12V 7.0Ah batteries for longer standby capacity. The 4-zone panel can be expanded to 8 zones, with zones 5-8 configurable to accept conventional devices via an optional conventional zone card. The enclosure measures 340mm x 350mm x 101mm and weighs 2.3kg net, suitable for surface mounting in plant rooms, risers and service cupboards.

Frequently Asked

What devices can be connected to the MagDuo panel?

The panel supports 2-wire compatible smoke detectors, heat detectors and manual call points. Up to 32 devices can be connected per zone, subject to the total Device Loading Unit (DLU) rating not exceeding the zone capacity. The panel differentiates between device types when an alarm triggers, displaying the specific device category on the LCD.

What batteries does the panel require?

The panel requires two 12V 2.3Ah batteries (BAT32) for standby power. These are sold separately. For installations requiring longer standby capacity, an optional extended battery box can house two 12V 7.0Ah batteries instead.

Can the panel be expanded beyond 4 zones?

Yes. The 4-zone MagDuo can be expanded to 8 zones using an optional conventional zone card, which allows zones 5-8 to accept conventional devices. The expansion maintains the same enclosure and requires no additional panels.

What is the alarm confirmation feature?

Alarm confirmation requires two separate devices in the same zone to trigger before the panel sounds the alarm. This reduces false alarms caused by dust, steam or transient events. The feature is configurable per zone and can be disabled where immediate alarm response is required.
