Description
The MagDuo is a 2-zone 2-wire fire alarm control panel from ESP, certified to EN54-2/4 standards for commercial and residential fire detection systems. The panel supports up to 32 devices per zone (subject to device loading units), running on a 2-wire loop topology that simplifies cabling compared to conventional 4-wire systems. A 4-line x 20-character LCD display shows system status, alarm events, and fault conditions, with five LED indicators (fire, fault, disabled, test, power) providing at-a-glance monitoring.
Designed for small commercial premises, residential blocks, hotels and office buildings where a managed fire detection system is required, the MagDuo differentiates between smoke detector, heat detector and manual call point alarms, allowing the panel to log and display the specific device type that triggered the alarm. The panel includes an alarm confirmation feature that cross-checks detector activations to reduce false alarms, three enhanced test modes for commissioning and maintenance, and configurable day/night detection modes per zone to adjust sensitivity based on occupancy patterns.
The event log stores up to 500 events with timestamps, providing an audit trail for inspections and incident investigation. Delay programming options allow for entry/exit zones and phased evacuation protocols. The panel is housed in a 340mm x 350mm x 101mm steel enclosure with space for 2 x 12V 2.3Ah batteries (BAT32, sold separately) to provide standby power during mains failure. An optional extended battery box accommodates 2 x 12V 7.0Ah batteries for longer backup duration in critical installations.

Frequently Asked
What batteries does the MagDuo require?
The panel requires 2 x 12V 2.3Ah batteries (ESP part number BAT32, sold separately) for standby power. An optional extended battery box can accommodate 2 x 12V 7.0Ah batteries where longer backup duration is needed.
How many devices can be connected per zone?
Up to 32 devices per zone, subject to the device loading unit (DLU) rating of each device. Smoke detectors, heat detectors and manual call points each have different DLU values, so the actual device count depends on the mix installed on each loop.
Is the panel EN54 certified?
Yes. The MagDuo is certified to EN54-2/4 standards, which cover control and indicating equipment for fire detection and fire alarm systems in Europe. This certification is required for most commercial fire alarm installations in the UK and EU.
Can the panel differentiate between device types?
Yes. The panel identifies whether an alarm was triggered by a smoke detector, heat detector or manual call point, and displays this information on the LCD screen. This helps fire wardens and emergency responders assess the nature and location of the alarm more quickly.
