Description

This is the large suspension set in our Lyria range: a chrome E27 lamp holder on a 5 metre cable, with a flanged gallery that holds one of the range's glass shades. It is the working heart of the pendant, the part that carries the bulb and the shade, and it is not a complete light on its own. To finish it you add a Lyria glass shade in the 40cm or 50cm size and a Lyria ceiling rose, both sold separately, plus an E27 bulb, which is not included either. Overall the set reaches 5.2 metres, and the gallery is 17cm by 18cm at its widest. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: dry rooms indoors only.

The long cable is the reason to choose this set. A 5 metre drop suits a stairwell, a double-height hallway or a room with a tall ceiling, bringing the light down to where it is wanted. Hung over a dining table or in an entrance hall, a 40cm or 50cm glass shade gives the room a single generous centre of light, and the chrome gallery reads as a clean, polished collar where glass meets metal. Because the set and the shade are bought separately, you can pick the glass that suits your room and keep the same holder if you ever change it.

The set takes one E27 bulb of up to 42W and needs no separate driver or power supply. It runs on 220 to 240 volts AC and is not dimmable, so it belongs on an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer. It weighs 0.44KG on its own, before the glass is added. As a mains product, it is installed by a qualified electrician. Our practical note: decide on the shade size first, 40cm or 50cm, and choose a Lyria ceiling rose at the same time, so the finished pendant comes together in one visit.
