Description

This is the Lyria pendant suspension set in chrome: a slim cylindrical lamp holder with a broad mounting collar, hung on a thin 5m cable and measuring 5.1 metres from end to end. It is the working part of a Lyria pendant rather than a finished light. The set comes with its G4 bulb, but the glass shade, the ceiling rose and the driver are not included and are sold separately. Add one of the range's 10cm glass shades and a ceiling rose from the range and it becomes a complete pendant. It is rated IP20, so it belongs indoors, in dry rooms only.

Five metres of cable is a generous drop, which makes the set a sensible choice for rooms with high ceilings, where a shorter pendant would leave the light hanging well above the table or floor it serves. The chrome finish is bright and reflective, a polished detail beneath whichever of the range's glass shades you choose, and the slim holder keeps the look light. Because the shade is sold separately, you can buy the set on its own as a replacement suspension, or as the starting point of a new Lyria pendant.

The set takes a G4 bulb with a maximum of 2W, and that bulb is included; the maker describes the light it gives as diffuse. The bulb is replaceable, so a spent one can be changed without replacing the whole set. It is not dimmable, so plan on an ordinary on and off switch rather than a dimmer. The maker rates it for an operating temperature of 0°C to 40°C, and the whole set weighs just 0.1KG. It is installed by a qualified electrician.
