Description

Our Lyria E14 pendant suspension set is the working half of a glass pendant: a chrome lampholder on a 12-metre cable, made to carry the range's 20cm glass shade. It comes without a shade, without a ceiling rose and without a bulb. To finish it as a light, you add one of the range's 20cm glass shades, one of its ceiling roses and an E14 bulb of up to 28W. The maker gives its overall length as 12.2 metres, and it weighs 0.61KG. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms only.

That long cable is the reason to choose this set. Twelve metres gives you the length to drop a single glass pendant through a tall stairwell, a double-height hallway or an open landing, where a short pendant would leave the light stranded high in the ceiling. It also suits a dining room or living room with a generous ceiling, where you want the glass hanging low and close to the table. Because the shade is bought separately, you pick the glass yourself from the range's 20cm shades. The chrome lampholder keeps a clean, bright look beneath it that sits well in a modern or a more traditional room.

The lampholder takes an E14 bulb of up to 28W, and the set is not dimmable, so pick the bulb for the brightness you want every evening. It runs on 220-240V AC and, as the maker states, needs no separate power supply. The maker rates it for rooms between 0°C and 40°C, and describes the light, once the glass shade is fitted, as diffuse. As with any mains pendant, it should be installed by a qualified electrician. Order the glass shade, the ceiling rose and the bulb together, so everything is ready for the electrician's visit.
