Lyria 50cm Globe Glass Light Shade - Satin White

The Lyria globe is a full sphere of satin glass in a soft white finish, 50cm across and 50cm tall, so it reads as a perfect ball from every angle. It is a shade only: the box holds the glass globe itself, with no suspension set and no bulb. To become a working pendant it needs the range's E27 pendant suspension set, which is sold separately and which the maker lists as required, plus a bulb. If you already own the suspension set and need to replace a broken or damaged globe, this is the part to order; if you are starting from scratch, order the two together.

Half a metre of softly glowing glass carries real presence, so this size suits rooms with the ceiling height and floor area to let it breathe: an open-plan living space, a double-height hallway, a stairwell or the space over a large dining table. Hung lower over a table it becomes the focal point of the room; hung high in a tall space it fills the volume without crowding it. We would keep it to dry rooms indoors. For anyone replacing a 50cm satin white globe, this shade brings the light back to how it looked before.

Satin glass has a finely frosted surface, which spreads the light from the bulb across the whole sphere rather than showing a bright hot spot, and glass does not yellow with age the way some plastics can. The globe weighs 2.6KG, a real weight for a shade and worth bearing in mind when you handle it. The suspension set is a mains fitting, installed by a qualified electrician. If you are buying both parts, order them together so the whole light can go up in a single visit.

What do I need to turn this globe into a working pendant?

You need the range's E27 pendant suspension set, which is sold separately and listed by the maker as required, plus a bulb, as neither comes in the box.

How big is the Lyria glass globe?

It measures 50cm across and 50cm tall, a full half-metre sphere, and it weighs 2.6KG, so it suits rooms with generous ceiling height.

Is a bulb included with the shade?

No. The bulb is not included, and neither is the pendant suspension set; the box holds the satin glass globe only.

What finish does the glass have?

The globe is satin glass in a satin white finish, a softly frosted surface that spreads the light evenly across the whole sphere.

Will it replace a broken globe on my existing light?

It fits the range's E27 pendant suspension set, so if your light uses that set, this 50cm satin white globe is the replacement to order.
