Description

This is a replacement globe shade for the Lyria range, a round globe of satin glass in a soft white finish, 40cm across and 40cm tall. What you receive is the glass shade alone. To become a working pendant it needs the range's large E27 pendant suspension set, which is sold separately and which the maker lists as required, and a bulb is not included either. If you already own that suspension set, this is the piece to order when a shade has been broken or when you simply want a fresh one; if you are starting from scratch, order the two together.

At 40cm, this is a generous globe, so it suits a room with the ceiling height and the space beneath to carry it: above a dining table, in a stairwell or in a wide hallway, where a single large shade gives the space a clear centre. A satin glass surface spreads light evenly and hides the bulb from view, so the globe reads as one soft glow rather than a bright point. The white finish is neutral, which lets it sit comfortably with timber, painted walls or darker metal fittings around it.

The shade is made of satin glass and weighs 1.45KG on its own, worth knowing when you lift it into place at height. Glass does not yellow with age, unlike many plastics. The suspension set that carries it is a mains product, installed by a qualified electrician. When you order, check that the suspension set is the large E27 version from the range, since that is the set the maker pairs with this shade.
