Description

The Lyndon is a single-light outdoor chain pendant with a 128mm-wide tapered glass shade in clear seedy glass, suspended from an architectural bronze chain and canopy. The shade houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the textured glass, which disperses the light into a soft ambient glow rather than a harsh direct beam. The pendant carries an IP44 rating, protecting against water splashes from any direction but requiring overhead cover such as a porch roof, canopy or soffit.

Designed for covered outdoor areas where traditional lantern-style fittings feel too heavy or bulky, the Lyndon works above front doors, on covered side porches, in loggias, under carport ceilings and in covered outdoor dining areas. The 1000mm chain is adjustable on installation, with a minimum drop of 280mm and maximum of 1280mm, allowing the pendant to hang low over an outdoor dining table or high enough to clear head height in a 2.1-2.4m porch. The compact 128mm diameter keeps the fitting unobtrusive in narrow or cluttered spaces.

The architectural bronze finish is a dark, matte-toned bronze with grey undertones, chosen to weather gracefully in outdoor conditions without showing oxidation or finish degradation as aggressively as polished metals would. The clear seedy glass has tiny air bubbles trapped in the molten glass during manufacture, creating the characteristic speckled texture that softens light output and adds visual interest when the bulb is off. The fitting weighs approximately 1.2kg when fully assembled, requiring a secure ceiling fixing point rated for overhead loads.

Can this be used in uncovered outdoor locations?

No. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes but not direct rain or prolonged exposure to weather. The Lyndon must be installed under a porch roof, canopy, soffit or other overhead cover that shields it from rain falling from above.

What bulb is recommended?

The pendant takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately). Most users pair it with a warm-white LED filament bulb in the 6-8W range and 2200K-2700K colour temperature to complement the architectural bronze finish and create a warm outdoor ambiance.

How is the chain length adjusted?

The chain is adjusted during installation by removing or adding links before the cable is threaded through. Once installed, the drop cannot be changed without dismounting the pendant and re-threading the cable. Decide on the final drop height before completing the installation.

Does the seedy glass reduce light output?

Yes, slightly. The air bubbles in the glass scatter some of the light, reducing direct downward output by approximately 10-15% compared to clear glass. This diffusion is the intended effect, softening the light and reducing glare from the bulb filament.
