Description

The Luxeon pendant steel cable suspension kit provides a 2-metre adjustable wire cable system for hanging pendant lights from ceilings. The kit includes a brushed steel mounting plate, a length of braided steel suspension cable, white plastic wall plugs, screws, and height adjustment end caps. The white finish on the end caps matches the cable coating, giving a clean monochrome appearance when installed.

Designed for residential pendant installations where cable-suspension is preferred over rigid drop rods, the kit suits pendants weighing up to approximately 3kg depending on ceiling construction and fixing method. The 2m cable length allows adjustable drop heights from 300mm to 1900mm, making it suitable for standard 2.4m ceilings down to lower loft or mezzanine installations. The cable threads through the pendant canopy or fitting and locks with the supplied end caps.

The braided steel cable construction provides greater tensile strength than standard electrical flex alone, reducing sway and maintaining vertical alignment when the pendant is installed. The mounting plate measures 30mm square with two fixing holes, designed to screw into a ceiling joist, plasterboard anchor or existing ceiling rose position. The white coating on the cable hides the silver steel beneath, maintaining visual continuity in white or light-coloured interiors.

What weight can this cable support?

The braided steel cable itself can support substantial weight, but the safe load depends on your ceiling construction and the fixing method. For plasterboard ceilings with cavity anchors, loads should not exceed 2-3kg. For solid joists or concrete with screws into timber or masonry, the cable can support heavier pendants up to 5kg or more.

How is the cable length adjusted?

The cable threads through the pendant canopy and locks with the supplied end caps. Excess cable can be coiled inside the canopy or trimmed during installation. Adjust the drop height before locking the end caps in place.

Does this include the electrical cable?

No. This is a suspension kit only. The electrical flex for your pendant runs separately inside or alongside the steel cable, depending on your pendant design. The steel cable provides structural support, not electrical connection.

Can this be used outdoors?

The steel cable has a white coating but is not rated for outdoor or high-moisture environments. For outdoor pendant suspension, use a stainless steel kit with IP-rated components.
