Description

The Kichler Luverne is a single-light outdoor chain pendant with a ribbed clear glass shade enclosed in an oil-rubbed bronze frame. The frame features bead detailing along the top rim, small medallion accents and scrollwork arms that curve down to support the glass enclosure. The pendant takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and carries an IP23 rating for outdoor use in covered locations.

Designed for installation under covered porches, entrance canopies and veranda ceilings, the Luverne provides downward-directed light through the vertical ribbing in the glass. The ribbed pattern breaks up direct glare from the bulb and creates vertical shadow lines on nearby surfaces when lit. The 1200mm chain length allows the drop to be adjusted between 552mm and 1680mm on installation, accommodating ceiling heights from 2.4m to 3.5m depending on desired clearance.

The oil-rubbed bronze finish shows darker tones in the recesses and lighter bronze highlights on raised details, giving the metal visible depth under natural and artificial light. The 229mm diameter keeps the pendant compact enough for narrower porch widths while the 440mm fitting height gives it a vertical presence when viewed from the approach. The clear glass shows the bulb when unlit, so a decorative filament or globe-style LED works well with the traditional frame style.

The IP23 rating means the pendant is protected against solid objects above 12.5mm and against water spray at angles up to 60° from vertical, which covers typical rain exposure under a porch overhang but does not allow the fitting to be fully exposed to weather. The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use under a porch, a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K works well, or a decorative filament LED suits the traditional frame style.

Can it be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

No. The IP23 rating protects against rain spray at angles up to 60° from vertical, which suits covered porches and entrance canopies. It is not rated for fully exposed locations where rain can approach from all angles or where water can pool around the fitting.

How is the drop adjusted?

The 1200mm chain allows the pendant to hang between 552mm and 1680mm below the ceiling rose. The chain is shortened by removing links during installation. Once fitted, the drop cannot be changed without accessing the ceiling rose and adjusting the chain again.

Does the ribbed glass hide the bulb?

Partially. The vertical ribbing diffuses light and reduces glare but the bulb itself is visible through the clear glass when the light is off. A decorative filament or globe-style bulb looks better than a standard LED with visible circuitry.
