Description

The Lunar is a compact outdoor wall light cast from die-cast aluminium and finished in painted white, with a satin Pyrex glass diffuser positioned at the lower edge of the body. The light takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and directs the output downward through the glass panel, casting a controlled pool of light onto the wall and ground below.

Designed for exterior entrances, porch areas, garden pathways and patio zones, the Lunar provides functional task lighting rather than ambient wash. The 220mm width suits mounting beside doorways, on garage walls, or flanking gate posts where a defined downward throw is needed to illuminate steps, thresholds or pathways after dark. The IP55 rating protects the internal components against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for year-round UK weather exposure including rain and coastal environments.

The die-cast aluminium body gives the fitting dimensional stability under thermal cycling and resists corrosion better than pressed steel alternatives. The white finish is baked onto the casting, providing a consistent surface that does not yellow or chalk as quickly as some powder-coated finishes. The satin Pyrex glass diffuses the bulb filament or LED element to reduce glare while maintaining good downward light transmission, so the fitting produces usable illumination rather than just decorative glow.

The compact 85mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting tight to the building face, reducing the chance of accidental contact in narrow passages or alongside vehicle access routes. The E27 bulb socket accepts LED, CFL or filament bulbs up to the manufacturer's maximum wattage rating, allowing you to choose the light temperature and output level that suits the application.

The Lunar can be used in any external location including coastal areas, under eaves, or fully exposed to rain. What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb. For outdoor task lighting most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K. Check the Specification tab for the maximum wattage rating before fitting a halogen or high-output LED bulb.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible, but dimming performance depends on the bulb you fit. Use a dimmable LED bulb if you plan to pair the light with a dimmer switch, and confirm the dimmer is rated for LED loads.

How is it wired and mounted?

The Lunar mounts to a standard outdoor wall box or directly to a masonry wall with fixings concealed behind the backplate. Wiring connects to mains voltage via a terminal block inside the body. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK wiring regulations.
