Luminis Outdoor Wall Light - Grey

The Luminis is a grey outdoor wall light with a cylindrical die-cast aluminium body and a Pyrex glass diffuser housing horizontal metal louvres that direct light downward and to the sides. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating, protecting the internal components against splashing water from any direction. The grey powder-coated finish provides corrosion resistance for coastal and high-humidity locations.

Designed for entrance porches, garage sides, garden pathways and courtyard perimeter walls, the Luminis mounts on a vertical surface with the light output concentrated downward onto the wall face and adjacent ground. The 250mm projection from the wall creates shadow and depth on textured surfaces while the 110mm height keeps the fixture compact enough for installation between ground level and door-head height without obstructing movement or sightlines.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists UV degradation and thermal cycling better than pressed steel or polymer housings, maintaining structural integrity through freeze-thaw cycles and summer heat. The Pyrex glass diffuser withstands thermal shock when rain hits the hot surface of an operating lamp. Internal louvres control glare and prevent direct view of the bulb from eye level, making the fitting comfortable to walk past at night. The grey finish sits neutrally against rendered masonry, timber cladding and brick without the high contrast of black or white.

What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 protects against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. This makes the Luminis suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and on walls that receive rain but not direct high-pressure water spray. It is not rated for submersion or use in direct downpour positions without overhead protection.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 socket accepts standard Edison screw bulbs. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) between 6-10W provides adequate pathway and entrance illumination while minimising running costs. The fixture is dimmable if paired with a compatible dimmable LED bulb and mains dimmer.

Can it be installed on timber cladding?

Yes. The mounting plate fixes to timber, rendered masonry, brick or blockwork using appropriate fixings. Ensure the mounting surface is structurally sound to support the weight of the fitting and that any cable entry through timber cladding is sealed with silicone or waterproof gland to maintain the IP44 rating.

How is the light distributed?

The horizontal louvres inside the Pyrex diffuser direct the majority of light downward onto the wall face and adjacent ground, with secondary side light creating a halo effect around the fixture. This distribution is designed for pathway marking and wall washing rather than broad-area floodlighting.
