Description

The Luma is an 80cm outdoor bollard light built from powder-coated black metal with a transparent Pyrex glass diffuser at the head. The fitting houses two G9 bulbs (sold separately) behind the glass, casting light downwards and outwards across paths, driveways and garden borders. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for UK outdoor installation year-round.

Designed for residential driveways, garden pathways, commercial car parks and landscaped areas where lighting needs to be visible at a distance, the 80cm height positions the light source above low planting and typical ground-level obstructions. The metal post is fixed to a ground base plate or set into a concrete footing, with the cable run buried or surface-conduit mounted depending on the installation site. The bollard sits on a 100mm x 160mm footprint and projects 160mm from its mounting point.

The powder-coated black finish resists corrosion and UV fading in outdoor conditions, requiring minimal maintenance beyond occasional wiping of the glass diffuser. The transparent Pyrex glass provides full visibility of the G9 bulb filament or LED element, so bulb choice determines the visual character when lit — clear filament bulbs for a visible glow, frosted for diffused output. The fitting is dimmable when paired with compatible G9 dimmable bulbs and a suitable outdoor dimmer circuit.

What bulbs does the Luma take?

The bollard takes two G9 capsule bulbs, sold separately. G9 LED bulbs between 2-5W in warm white (2700K-3000K) are the most common choice for outdoor path lighting. Ensure any bulbs used are rated for enclosed fixtures.

Can it be used in exposed coastal locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes but does not provide full weatherproofing against salt spray or submersion. For coastal installations, regular cleaning of the metal and glass surfaces will help maintain the finish and prevent salt corrosion buildup.

How is the bollard installed?

The bollard mounts to a ground base plate that can be fixed to a solid surface (paving, concrete) or set into a concrete footing. The electrical cable runs through the base and should be installed by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK wiring regulations for outdoor lighting circuits.

Is the light dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable G9 bulbs and wired to a compatible outdoor dimmer circuit. Non-dimmable G9 bulbs will operate at full brightness only.
