Description

The Lucidra is a 50cm diameter illuminated globe designed for outdoor use, featuring an opal white plastic diffuser on an aluminium pedestal base. The sphere houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating, protecting the fitting against splashing water from any direction. The 2.8m cable allows placement away from fixed power points across gardens, patios and poolside areas.

Designed for lawns, decking and hard landscaping, the Lucidra provides ambient ground-level lighting suitable for evening garden use, outdoor entertaining spaces and pathway illumination. The 50cm diameter gives enough visual presence to act as a decorative element during daylight hours when unlit. The sphere can be paired with LED, halogen or decorative filament E27 bulbs depending on the desired brightness and colour temperature — warm white LEDs between 2700K-3000K suit relaxed outdoor evening settings.

The white opal diffuser distributes light evenly in all directions, softening the bulb source and reducing glare. The aluminium base provides stability on grass and paved surfaces, while the IP44 rating means the fitting withstands rain and garden irrigation without requiring a sheltered position. The dimmable compatibility allows output to be reduced when used with a compatible E27 dimmable bulb and outdoor-rated dimmer control.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Lucidra range in Italy. The 50cm model is the larger option in the series — a 40cm variant is also available for tighter planting schemes or more compact patios.

What bulb is recommended?

The Lucidra takes one E27 bulb up to 23W for LED or 60W for halogen (sold separately). A warm white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K suits outdoor evening use. Decorative filament globe bulbs also work well with the opal diffuser.

Can it be left outdoors year-round?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing water, and the aluminium base and plastic diffuser are weather-resistant. The fitting can remain outdoors through UK winters, though storing it under cover during prolonged periods of non-use extends the lifespan of the cable and bulb holder.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable-compatible. Dimming requires a dimmable E27 bulb and an outdoor-rated dimmer control on the circuit. Standard non-dimmable LED bulbs will not dim and may flicker or fail if used with a dimmer.

How is it powered?

The Lucidra connects to mains power via a 2.8m cable. It requires an outdoor-rated power socket or a weatherproof connection box installed by a qualified electrician. It is not battery-powered.
