Description

The Lucerne is a single-arm wall light built on a square brushed nickel backplate with a horizontal arm extending to a single E14 bulb holder topped by a grey fabric shade. The shade is a tapered cone approximately 155mm wide at the base, diffusing the bulb light while directing most of the output downward and forward into the room.

Designed for bedside positions, hallway accent lighting and reading corners where a switched wall fixture is preferred over a table lamp, the Lucerne projects 195mm from the wall and stands 355mm tall. The horizontal arm positions the shade away from the wall surface, allowing some backwash light to graze the wall behind while the majority of the output focuses forward. The E14 socket accepts candle-style LED or halogen bulbs up to 25W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and brightness.

The brushed nickel finish shows fine directional lines across the metal surface that soften reflections under daylight and pair comfortably with cooler greys, whites and contemporary interiors. The grey fabric shade absorbs some of the bulb light, producing a softer ambient effect than a clear glass or metal shade would. The square backplate measures approximately 100mm across and fits a standard UK wall box, with the shade height allowing it to be installed at typical bedside switch height (1100-1200mm from floor) without the shade sitting too close to the ceiling in rooms with 2.4m heights.

What bulb does it take?

The Lucerne takes a single E14 (small Edison screw) candle-style bulb up to 25W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 3-5W and 2700K-3000K for bedside or hallway use.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Lucerne carries no IP rating and uses a fabric shade, so it is not suitable for bathroom zones where moisture or steam is present. It is designed for dry interior spaces such as bedrooms, hallways and living rooms.

Can it be installed next to a bed for reading?

Yes. The horizontal arm positions the shade 195mm out from the wall, directing light down and forward. Installing the backplate at approximately 1100-1200mm from the floor places the shade at a comfortable height for bedside reading when seated or propped up in bed.

How is the grey fabric shade cleaned?

The fabric shade can be dusted gently with a soft dry brush or microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fabric. Do not use household sprays or chemical cleaners on the shade.
