Description

The Lucent is a 97mm square surface-mounted LED downlight built from aluminium with a matt black powder-coated finish. An integrated 25W LED behind a precision lens casts directional 3000K warm white light from a ceiling-mounted box, making this a functional fitting for spaces where recessed downlights cannot be installed or where surface-mount aesthetics are preferred.

Designed for hallways, commercial lobbies, retail corridors and residential rooms with concrete ceilings or shallow ceiling voids, the Lucent mounts directly onto the ceiling surface without requiring a cut-out. The 97mm footprint keeps the visual presence minimal while the 25W output provides task-level illumination over desks, counters or walkways. The fitting is rated IP20 for dry interior use only and is not dimmable.

The matt black finish sits flat against dark ceilings or provides contrast against white plasterwork, and the aluminium construction keeps the fitting lightweight at under 500g. The plastic diffuser inside the housing evens out the LED output to reduce hotspots and glare when viewed from typical standing or seated positions. The fixed downward beam angle makes the Lucent suitable for general downlighting tasks rather than accent or feature lighting.

Ideal Lux supplies the Lucent with a 5-year warranty and the integrated LED is rated for 30,000+ hours of typical use, which equates to approximately 10 years at 8 hours per day before noticeable output degradation. The fitting connects to 230V mains via a standard ceiling rose or junction box and does not require an external driver.

Is this dimmable?

No. The integrated LED is not compatible with dimmer switches. Connecting it to a dimmed circuit may cause flickering or failure.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means the Lucent is suitable for dry indoor use only. It is not rated for bathroom zones or any areas where moisture or splashing may occur.

How is it mounted?

The Lucent surface-mounts directly onto the ceiling using screws into a ceiling rose, junction box or solid ceiling substrate. No ceiling cut-out is required, making it ideal for concrete ceilings or retrofit installations where recessed fittings are impractical.

The fitting provides a fixed downward beam typical of square downlights, approximately 38-45° depending on the internal lens design. It is designed for general task lighting rather than narrow accent beams or wide flood lighting.
