Lovely Grandma Floral Heart Wooden Mantel Plaque - White

This wooden heart plaque says Lovely Grandma in soft gold-coloured script, set above a spray of watercolour flowers in pastel pink, peach and blue. A little bumblebee hovers near the top of the heart, and beneath it the lettering reads "Like a flower, you make life more beautiful", a sweet line that sums up what a grandmother brings to a family. A thin brown rim frames the heart, and the edge shows the natural colour of the wood. It measures 17.5cm by 16cm across the face and is a chunky 3cm deep, so it has a reassuring presence without crowding a shelf.

Being 3cm deep with a flat lower edge, the plaque stands on its own, so it needs no hook or nail and can sit on a mantelpiece, a bedside table, a windowsill or a bookcase shelf. It suits a living room or a bedroom equally well, wherever she will see it each day. We think it makes a thoughtful Mother's Day gift for a grandmother, and it is just as welcome as a birthday present, perhaps given with a card from the grandchildren. Because the words do the talking, it is an easy choice when you want to say something heartfelt without searching for the right phrase yourself.

The heart is made of wood with a smooth white printed face, and the rim and edge leave the wood's warm tones on show for a homely finish. To keep it looking fresh, dust it now and then with a soft, dry cloth, and if it needs more, wipe the face gently with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. For gifting, wrap it flat in tissue, and once it is home, give it a spot at eye level on the mantel, where the flowers and the message can be enjoyed every time she walks past.
