Description

The Louvre is a single pendant light built around a graphite-finished metal frame with horizontal clear glass slats running across all four sides. The frame measures 250mm square and 386mm tall, suspended on a graphite chain from a matching rectangular ceiling canopy. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits at the centre of the frame, visible through the glass slats.

Designed for installation over dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls, the Louvre works best with vintage-style filament bulbs that make the internal bulb part of the visual composition rather than hiding it. The horizontal glass slats diffuse light sideways while allowing direct light downwards, creating both ambient fill and focused task light below. The 1500mm chain length is adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to hang anywhere from 475mm to 2003mm below the ceiling rose.

The graphite finish is a dark grey-black metal coating with a subtle brushed texture that reduces fingerprints and sits comfortably in both industrial and contemporary interiors. The clear glass slats are set at even intervals around the frame, creating a louvred effect that breaks up the light path without blocking it entirely. The combined metal frame and glass construction gives the fitting a substantial presence without making it visually heavy, and the open framework means the pendant does not dominate the space when viewed from the side.

What bulb works best with the Louvre?

The pendant takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most users pair it with a vintage-style LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to make the bulb part of the design. Bulbs are sold separately.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 1500mm chain is adjustable from 475mm minimum drop to 2003mm maximum. For installation over a dining table or kitchen island, the pendant typically hangs 700-900mm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above.

Can the glass slats be cleaned?

Yes. The clear glass slats can be wiped with a soft cloth and standard glass cleaner. Switch off the power and allow the bulb to cool before cleaning. The horizontal orientation of the slats means dust settles on the upper edges and may need occasional attention.

Is the graphite finish suitable for kitchens?

The graphite metal finish is suitable for dry indoor environments including kitchens. The pendant carries no IP rating, so it should not be installed directly above a hob or sink where it would be exposed to steam or water splash.
