Description

Five slim curved trapezium shades hang from a round antique gold frame, 45cm across, and the iridescent finish on the shades shifts through pink, green and gold depending on where you stand. It is a light with plenty of sparkle but a fairly small footprint on the ceiling, since the shades are narrow rather than wide. Each one takes its own E27 lamp of up to 20W. The drop is adjustable across a wide span, so the whole cluster can sit high and tidy or hang low over a table, and it will dim if you pair suitable lamps with a compatible dimmer.

We would put it over a dining table or a kitchen island, where the shades spread the light along the length of the surface instead of pooling it in one spot. It also works well in a hallway with height, or on a landing where you want something to see from below as well as from the top of the stairs. It is one we reach for when a single pendant looks lost above a long table. Warm white lamps suit the gold; cooler ones flatten it.

The metalwork carries the antique gold, a slightly softened tone that reads warmer than bright brass, while the iridescent shades supply the colour. Keep the shades clear with a dry microfibre cloth, working around the curve rather than across it, and keep sprays and polishes off the metal so the aged tone stays even. It is meant for dry rooms indoors, away from steam and splashes. It carries a one year warranty. The Lori range also runs to flush fittings, in this antique gold and in polished chrome, if you want something smaller in a nearby room. Lamps are not included.
