Description

Five slender drops hang from a single round ceiling plate, each ending in an opal shade with the tapered, cupped outline of a wine glass. The plate measures 45cm across, so the group reads as a single fitting rather than a scatter of separate lights, and every flex can be set at its own length, whether you stagger the shades or level them off. The metalwork is antique gold, a warm and softly aged tone rather than a bright one, which suits the soft opal of the shades.

We would hang it over a dining table or a kitchen island, where the adjustable drops let you bring the shades to just above eye level and keep the light on the food rather than in people's eyes. It earns its place in a wide hallway too, or over a long sideboard in a room with height to spare. Each E27 socket takes the lamp of your choosing, so you can set the brightness and warmth to suit the room, and the fitting will dim if suitable lamps are used with a compatible dimmer.

The shades are opal, softening the light rather than throwing it out in a hard line, and the antique gold keeps its warmth under lamplight. A soft cloth every few weeks is all the upkeep it asks; if a kitchen leaves a film on the shades, wipe them with a barely damp cloth once the lamps are cold, then dry them off.
