Description

Four round globes sit in a row along a slim polished chrome bar, each open at the mouth so light falls straight down as well as glowing through the glass. The glass is opal with a pink cast, soft rather than loud, and the polished metal around it keeps everything crisp. The bar measures 1.2m and holds four E27 lamps, each up to 20W. Heights can be set to suit the room, from tucked up close to the ceiling to well down over a surface.

We would run this along the length of a dining table, where a line of globes spreads light more evenly than a central pendant would, and we would choose it again over a kitchen island or a long breakfast bar. It works in a bedroom too, above a wide dressing table or a low bench. With suitable lamps and a separate dimmer it dims, so you can take it from bright working light down to something quieter for eating. It is for dry rooms indoors, and it needs an earthed supply.

The frame and lamp holders are metal under a polished chrome finish, with the coloured globes hung beneath. Fingerprints show on chrome, so a dry microfibre cloth along the bar now and then is worth the minute; the glass takes a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one, with the power off and the lamps cool first. It carries a one year warranty. The Lori range goes on into round ceiling flush fittings, in polished chrome or antique gold, with the same open mouth globes as well as wine and trapezium shades, so you can echo the look in a hallway or a smaller room. Lamps are not included.
