Description

The Llamas is a 1.76m tall floor lamp with six curved metal arms finished in gloss white, each arm holding a G4 halogen bulb at its tip. The arms radiate outward from a central column in a branching formation, creating a sculptural presence with a 350mm diameter spread at the widest point. The lamp includes six G4 halogen bulbs rated at 20W each, giving a combined 120W output across the fitting.

Designed as a statement piece for living rooms, lounge areas and hallways with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Llamas functions as both task and ambient lighting. The multiple light sources distribute illumination across a wide area, making the lamp suitable for lighting a seating group or brightening a corner without relying on ceiling fixtures. The gloss white finish reflects light from the bulbs, amplifying brightness and adding visual weight to the sculptural form.

The lamp base and arms are constructed from metal, giving the fitting a 10kg weight that provides stability on carpets and hard floors without needing additional ballast. The gloss finish requires periodic wiping to maintain its reflective quality, as fingerprints and dust show more readily on high-gloss surfaces than on matt finishes. The lamp is dimmable when paired with dimmable G4 halogen bulbs and a compatible dimmer, allowing light levels to be adjusted from full brightness down to a low glow.

The G4 socket type is a bi-pin halogen fitting common in decorative and accent lighting. G4 bulbs are smaller than standard GU10 or E27 bulbs, giving the lamp head a more compact visual profile. Halogen bulbs produce warm-white light (typically 2700K-3000K) and run hotter than LED equivalents, so the bulbs should not be touched when lit or immediately after switching off.

What ceiling height is needed?

At 1.76m tall, the Llamas works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher. In lower-ceilinged rooms the lamp may feel visually compressed, particularly if placed near seating where the bulbs sit close to eye level.

How is the gloss white finish maintained?

Wipe the metal arms with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or smudges, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water works, but avoid soaking the metal and dry immediately. Do not use abrasive cleaners or polishes, as these can dull or scratch the gloss finish.
