Description

A full round globe on an E27 screw cap, frosted so the light leaves the surface evenly rather than in points. It measures 95mm across the widest part of the sphere, which is the size people picture when they think of a decorative globe lamp. Output is 720 lumens from 8W, in a warm white that reads soft and slightly golden. It is not dimmable, so it wants a plain on-off switch.

We choose a globe like this where the lamp itself is part of the fitting: open pendants, a bare flex drop over a kitchen island, cluster fittings, cage shades and table lamps with no shade at all. The frosting takes the glare out, so it is comfortable to sit under and to look at directly, which matters over a dining table or on a stairwell. Warm white suits sitting rooms, bedrooms and hallways, and flatters timber, brick and warm paint. Keep it to dry rooms indoors; kitchens and hallways are fine, a shower enclosure or an open porch is not.

Beyond the frosted finish there is little to describe: a plain sphere with an E27 cap, meant to look quiet in a fitting rather than draw the eye. For cleaning, switch the circuit off, let the lamp go cold, then lift dust with a dry cloth or a soft brush; frosted surfaces mark easily, so keep sprays and damp cloths away from it.
