Description

The Latina is a 290mm flush-mount outdoor ceiling light in white powder-coated cast aluminium with a frosted polycarbonate lens. The octagonal frame divides the lens into eight individual panels, each bordered by a raised white aluminium edge that creates a geometric lantern effect when viewed from below. A single E27 bulb inside the housing casts light through the frosted panels, diffusing it evenly across the fitting's footprint.

Designed for porches, covered entrances, carports and patio ceilings, the Latina pairs IP44 weatherproofing with coastal-environment durability. The cast aluminium body resists corrosion in salt-laden air, and the powder-coated white finish protects the metal underneath from UV degradation and moisture ingress. The 150mm projection from ceiling to base of lens keeps the fitting low-profile on ceilings as low as 2.2m without creating headroom obstruction.

The frosted polycarbonate lens is impact-resistant and remains stable across temperature ranges from -20°C to +40°C, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use in UK climates. The octagonal geometry of the lens panels gives the fitting a defined shape when unlit during daylight hours, avoiding the plain-dome appearance of simpler flush-mount outdoor lights. The white finish pairs with painted render, UPVC fascias and white-painted timber equally well.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 certification means the fitting is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm (including dust and small insects) and against water splashes from any direction. It is suitable for covered outdoor areas like porches, carports and patio ceilings, but not for fully exposed positions subject to heavy rain or direct water jets.

What bulb does it take?

The Latina takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a 6-10W warm-white LED bulb (2700K-3000K) for outdoor entrance lighting.

Is it suitable for coastal areas?

Can it be fitted on a sloped ceiling?

The Latina is designed as a flush-mount fitting for horizontal ceilings. It can be fitted on ceilings with a slight slope (up to approximately 10°) but the octagonal geometry will appear tilted when viewed from below. For steeper slopes, a wall-mounted version may be more appropriate.
