Description
The Larncombe wall light is a low, wide fitting: 310mm across, 170mm high, and projecting just 140mm from the wall. The shade is multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass set into a metal frame and backplate, lit by one 40W E14 golf bulb, supplied separately. The panels are cut and leaded individually, so the colour reads as colour when lit and the pattern holds when it is not. At 0.9kg it is light to handle, which makes fixing easy. It is Class 2, double insulated, and needs no earth.
A wall sconce is the fitting for tight spaces, and 140mm of projection is about as slim as leaded glass gets. Use the Larncombe on a narrow hall wall, up a staircase, either side of a bed or flanking a fireplace. Mount it around 1.5 metres to 1.6 metres from the floor for general light, lower where it is reading level beside a bed. The 40W bulb gives soft background light, so treat it as a layer rather than the main source and keep a lamp or ceiling light for the rest.
Frame and backplate are metal and the glass sits within them, so the leaded panels carry no load. Clean with a dry soft cloth, and where marks need more use a barely damp cloth then dry the lead lines. Avoid solvents, ammonia-based sprays and abrasive creams. Rated IP20, it belongs in dry indoor rooms rather than bathrooms. Fit a dimmable bulb with a compatible dimmer if you want the level adjustable. The same glass appears on Larncombe pendant, table lamp and floor lamp options for a whole room in one pattern.

Frequently Asked
How far does it come off the wall?
Only 140mm, with a width of 310mm and a height of 170mm, which makes it one of the slimmer leaded glass wall lights for narrow halls and stairs.
What is the glass?
Multicoloured leaded glass in the Tiffany style, cut into panels and joined with lead, held in a metal frame and backplate.
What height should it be fitted at?
Around 1.5 metres to 1.6 metres from the floor for general lighting, and lower beside a bed so the light falls at reading level.
Which bulb does it need?
One 40W E14 golf bulb, not included. Use a dimmable bulb with a compatible dimmer if you want to vary the level.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth, use a barely damp cloth on marks, then dry the lead lines. Solvents, ammonia-based sprays and abrasive creams dull leadwork.
Can I fit it in a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms, so keep it to halls, stairs, bedrooms and living rooms.
