Description

The Larncombe inverted pendant is built around a 500mm bowl of Tiffany-style leaded glass, hung open side up so light reaches the ceiling first and comes back into the room as a soft wash. The drop adjusts between 600mm and 1000mm, which gives you a say in how present the fitting is overhead. Three E27 lampholders are set inside the bowl, each taking an LED bulb of up to 10W, and the assembled ceiling light weighs 3.5kg. Bulbs are not included, so you can choose the warmth that suits the room.

With a half metre bowl, the Larncombe is a pendant light for rooms with something to fill: over a dining table, in a bay windowed sitting room, or in a hallway where the ceiling deserves attention. Because the light goes upward, there is no glare across the table and no hard shadow under the shade, which makes long evenings easier on the eyes. The multicoloured glass sits comfortably in period interiors and works as a single warm pattern in a plainer room. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Coloured glass is joined by soldered metal seams over a metal frame, and the panels change tone as the daylight behind them changes. Keep the outside dusted with a dry soft cloth, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, and keep sprays and abrasive creams away from both glass and metal. The fitting is Class 1 and needs an earthed supply at the ceiling, and it dims with a compatible dimmer switch and dimmable bulbs.
