Description
The Larkbury is a small table lamp with a Tiffany-style shade in multicoloured leaded glass, 300mm across, standing 445mm tall on a metal base. The shade is built from cut glass panels soldered together, so the colour reads clearly in daylight and warms right through once the lamp is on. It takes one 40W E14 golf bulb, supplied separately, and weighs 2.3kg, which is enough to keep it steady on a side table without feeling heavy to move.
At under half a metre tall this is a lamp for the edges of a room rather than the centre of it. We would put it on a hall console, a sideboard, a bedside table, a window sill or either side of a chimney breast, where it gives a low pool of warm light for the evening. It suits period sitting rooms, snugs and bedrooms, and it sits happily beside older furniture and patterned textiles. Rated IP20, it belongs in dry indoor rooms.
Each glass panel is cut and leaded on its own before soldering, so no two shades are quite alike in colour balance or seam pattern. The base and shade carrier are metal, and the lamp is Class 2, double insulated, so no earth is required. It is not rated for dimming, so use it with a standard switch. Dust the shade with a dry, soft cloth and use a barely damp cloth sparingly for marks, keeping sprays away from the solder. Other Larkbury colourways are available if this mix is not the one for your room.

Frequently Asked
How big is it?
The shade is 300mm in diameter and the lamp stands 445mm tall. It weighs 2.3kg, so it sits firmly on a side table or console.
What is the shade made from?
Cut pieces of coloured glass, leaded and soldered into a frame using the Tiffany-style method, on a metal base.
Which bulb does it need?
One 40W E14 golf bulb, supplied separately. Warm white output shows the coloured glass at its best.
Is it dimmable?
No, it is not rated for dimming. Use it with a standard switch and pick the bulb output to suit the room.
How do I clean the glass?
Dust with a dry, soft cloth. For fingerprints, use a barely damp cloth and dry straight away, avoiding sprays and abrasives near the solder.
