Description
The Larkbury medium table lamp stands 620mm tall with a 400mm shade of Tiffany-style leaded glass, which is a generous shade for a table lamp and gives the pattern room to be seen. The multicoloured glass is cut piece by piece and joined with soldered seams over a metal frame, set on a metal base. Two lamp holders inside the shade each take an E27 GLS bulb of up to 60W, supplied separately, so the lamp can light a corner properly rather than just glowing. It weighs 4.3kg, which keeps it steady on a side table.
A lamp this size wants a sideboard, a console, a hall table or a wide side table rather than a small bedside shelf. Two lamps under one shade give enough light to read by, so it works in a sitting room corner as well as in a hallway where it stays on through the evening. Leaded glass in a traditional pattern suits period houses, and we would use a pair at either end of a sideboard to light a long room. In a plain modern room it brings warmth and colour that a fabric shade cannot.
Construction is soldered leaded glass on a metal frame and base, wired as a Class 1 earthed lamp. It is not listed as dimmable, so plan on standard switching and use a warmer, lower output bulb if you want a gentler light in the evening. Dust the glass with a dry soft cloth or a soft brush, wipe marks with a barely damp cloth and dry at once, keeping solvents and abrasive creams away from the solder lines. The Larkbury range carries the same glass into pendants, flush ceiling lights and an uplighter floor lamp.

Frequently Asked
How large is it?
620mm tall with a 400mm diameter shade, weighing 4.3kg. It suits a sideboard, console or wide side table rather than a narrow bedside.
Which bulbs does it take?
Two E27 GLS bulbs of up to 60W each, supplied separately. Warm white gives the truest colour through the leaded glass.
What is the shade made from?
Multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass, cut piece by piece and joined with soldered seams over a metal frame.
Can it be dimmed?
It is not listed as dimmable, so use standard switching. A lower wattage warm bulb is the simplest way to soften the light.
Is it bright enough to read by?
Yes. Two lamps at up to 60W each give a good working light, which is why a shade this size takes two rather than one.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth or soft brush and wipe marks with a barely damp cloth, drying immediately. Avoid solvents and abrasive creams near the solder.
