Description
The Larkbury large three light inverted pendant faces its 480mm bowl of Tiffany-style leaded glass upwards, so light reaches the ceiling first and falls back into the room evenly rather than pooling on a table. The multicoloured glass is cut piece by piece and joined by soldered seams over a metal frame, suspended on chains. Three lamp holders inside the bowl each take an E27 GLS bulb of up to 60W, supplied separately, and the drop adjusts between 600mm and 1000mm as the ceiling light is installed. It weighs 2.8kg.
Three lamps and an upward throw make this a proper main light for a sitting room, a dining room or a landing, and the lack of downward glare suits rooms where seating faces inwards and someone is always looking towards the ceiling. We would choose it over a downward pendant in a room used for television or conversation rather than eating. The traditional pattern belongs in period houses, but the colour also does real work in a plain room where nothing else is patterned. Rated IP20, it is an indoor fitting for dry rooms.
The bowl is soldered leaded glass on a metal frame and the fitting is wired as Class 1, so it needs an earth and a qualified electrician. Upward facing shades gather dust, so brush the bowl out every few months, lift marks with a barely damp cloth and dry straight away, keeping solvents and abrasive creams off the solder lines. Let bulbs cool before changing them. It is dimmable with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer, and the same glass runs through the rest of the Larkbury range, including flush ceiling lights and a table lamp.

Frequently Asked
What is an inverted pendant?
The shade sits as an upward facing bowl rather than hanging open at the bottom, so light reflects off the ceiling and spreads more evenly.
What size is it?
The bowl is 480mm in diameter, the drop adjusts from 600mm to 1000mm and the fitting weighs 2.8kg.
Which bulbs does it take?
Three E27 GLS bulbs of up to 60W each, supplied separately. Warm white gives the best colour through leaded glass.
Can I dim it?
Yes, with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.
How do I clean an upward facing shade?
Brush the dust out every few months, then wipe with a barely damp cloth and dry immediately. Keep solvents and abrasive creams away from the solder.
Is it suitable over a dining table?
It can hang over one, but a downward Larkbury pendant puts more light on the table. This one is better as a general room light.
