Description

Our large live edge chopping board brings a piece of natural woodland into the kitchen. Cut from solid wood, it keeps the organic contour of the tree along one side, so no two boards share exactly the same shape. The warm brown grain runs the length of the surface, with knots and tonal variation that mark it out as a genuine piece of timber rather than something uniform and machine-made. At 70cm wide and 40cm deep, it gives you a generous work area for slicing, carving and plating up.

This board earns its place as both a working tool and part of your serveware and trays range. Use it flat on the worktop for chopping vegetables or resting a roast, then carry it straight to the table to serve. It suits a relaxed kitchen table or a kitchen island, and doubles as a tray for laying out cheeses, charcuterie, breads and dips when guests arrive. The live edge and honest brown finish sit happily alongside both rustic and pared-back interiors, and it looks just as good propped upright when not in use.

Wood is a forgiving surface that is kinder to knife blades than glass or stone. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth and mild soap after use, then dry it thoroughly rather than leaving it to soak. Avoid the dishwasher, and treat the surface with a food-safe oil now and then to feed the grain and keep it from drying out. Cared for this way, it will darken gently and age well over years of use.

Frequently Asked

Is the board made from solid wood?

Yes, it is cut from solid timber with a natural live edge, so the grain, knots and shape vary from one board to the next.

Can I use it as a serving tray as well as a chopping board?

You can. It works as everyday serveware and trays, carrying cheeses, breads and platters to the table, and returns to chopping duty afterwards.

Is 70cm wide big enough for carving?

At 70cm wide and 40cm deep, it gives ample room for carving a joint or preparing several ingredients at once without crowding.

How do I clean and care for it?

Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap, dry it fully and keep it out of the dishwasher. Oil it occasionally with a food-safe oil to protect the wood.

Will the colour change over time?

The brown tone deepens gently with use and regular oiling, which brings out the character of the grain.
