Description

Our large hydria vase takes its cue from the classic water jars of the ancient world, with a rounded body that tapers gently towards a narrower neck and a wider mouth above. Standing 41cm tall and 24cm across, it has real presence as a floor or table piece, and the generous belly gives it a grounded, settled feel wherever you place it. Made from ceramic in a soft white finish, it carries the subtle weight and cool surface you would expect from a well made vase.

The white glaze catches light without glare, so the form reads clearly from across a room. Fill it with tall dried stems such as pampas, bunny tails or eucalyptus for an easy, sculptural look, or let a few branches of blossom arch out from the wide mouth. It works equally well left empty, where the shape alone does the styling. Set it on the floor beside a fireplace, in a hallway corner, or on a sideboard among books and candles. The pale tone sits happily with wood, linen and warm metals, so it suits both pared-back and layered rooms.

As one of the larger vases in our range, it is best filled with dried arrangements rather than water-heavy displays, which keeps it stable and easy to move. Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth to lift dust, and use a barely damp cloth for any marks before drying.
