Description

A lamp head sized to sit in the neck of a bottle and make a light of it. The black body holds an E27 lampholder above the bottle, and a rotary switch takes care of on and off at the lamp rather than across the room. It is small and it is light, cut to suit the neck of a standard wine or spirit bottle. Round globes and squirrel cage lamps look particularly good above it, and a plain GLS shape is just as happy; anything up to 40W suits.

We keep these for the jobs a full table lamp would swamp: a windowsill, a bar top, the end of a kitchen shelf, a bedside where a soft glow is all that is wanted. They earn their keep on cafe and restaurant tables too, and they are a good answer to a bottle too handsome to put out for recycling. Pair one with a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer and the level can be taken right down for the evening. With the lamp left on show, keep it to dry rooms indoors, away from bathrooms and anywhere it could take a splash.

The finish is black throughout, on body and collar, which keeps the eye on the bottle and the lamp rather than on the fitting. Cleaning takes no more than a wipe over the body with a dry cloth, done with the power off and the lamp cold; keep the switch and the lampholder dry. It carries a one year warranty. We would set one on a favourite bottle for a shelf display, and keep a spare in the drawer for the next bottle worth saving. Lamps are not included.
