Description

We stock this Kontakt Chemie heat sink compound as a simple way to improve heat transfer between electronic components and their heat sinks. It comes in a 20g tube and works as a thermal paste (also called thermal grease), filling the tiny air gaps between a component and its heat sink so warmth moves away from the part more efficiently.

The compound has high thermal conductivity, which is the whole point of applying it. Air is a poor conductor, so any small gaps left by uneven surfaces trap heat where you don't want it. A thin, even layer of this paste bridges those gaps and helps the heat sink do its job. It also acts as a moisture buffer, which is useful in setups where damp or condensation might otherwise be a problem, and it has a low metallic impurity content so it stays reliable around sensitive electronics.

You'll find this handy for CPUs, power transistors, voltage regulators and other parts that need steady heat dissipation. Use it sparingly: a thin film is all you need, since too much can actually work against you. The 20g tube covers plenty of small jobs, so it suits both one-off repairs and workshop use. The pack measures 150 x 10 x 50mm, making it easy to keep in a toolbox or drawer alongside your other electronics supplies.

Frequently Asked

What is heat sink compound used for?

It fills the small air gaps between an electronic component and its heat sink, improving heat transfer so the part runs cooler and more reliably.

How much should I apply?

A thin, even layer is all you need. Too much paste can reduce its effectiveness, so apply sparingly to cover the contact surface.

Is it the same as thermal paste or grease?

Yes. Heat sink compound is also known as thermal paste or thermal grease. They all describe the same type of product.

Does it protect against moisture?

It acts as a moisture buffer, which helps in setups where damp or condensation might otherwise cause issues.

Is it safe for sensitive electronics?

It has a low metallic impurity content, so it's suitable for use around sensitive components without introducing conductivity problems.
