Description

A shallow opal glass disc held in a polished chrome trim, this is a flush ceiling light for rooms where headroom is tight. The glass spreads the light evenly across its whole face, giving a soft wash rather than a hot spot, and the chrome ring keeps the edge crisp. The LED is built in and runs at 4000K, a clean cool white that keeps tile, chrome and paint colours looking true. It is a single 12W fitting, switched on and off rather than dimmed.

At 30cm across it covers a fair stretch of ceiling without dominating it, and its resistance to splashes and steam makes it a sensible choice for bathrooms, shower rooms, en suites and cloakrooms. We also reach for it along hallways and on landings, and in kitchens and utility rooms where a pendant would only be in the way. Cool white is the right note for task areas: shaving mirrors, worktops, the laundry corner.

Glass and metal throughout, with an opal white shade and chrome polished to a mirror brightness. To clean it, wipe the glass with a soft damp cloth and dry it straight away; the chrome is happier left dry, since limescale spots show up quickly in a bathroom. It carries a three year warranty. We think of this as a quiet fitting rather than one that asks for attention, so it sits easily alongside other chrome in a room, taps, towel rails and mirror frames included. The LED is integrated, so there is no lamp to buy or replace.
