Description
The Knightsbridge SpektroLED Evo is a fire-rated recessed downlight with selectable wattage (5W or 7W), four colour temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 6000K) and a 90-degree tilt mechanism. The fitting uses an integrated SMD LED array behind a prismatic diffuser, delivering between 565-865 lumens depending on wattage and CCT settings. The white pressed-steel bezel measures 90mm diameter and fits a 70mm cut-out with 56mm recessed depth.
Designed for new-build and retrofit ceiling installation, the SpektroLED Evo carries 30/60/90-minute fire ratings for solid timber joists, 30-minute ratings for web and I-joists, and IC rating for direct contact with loft insulation. The IP65 rating from below makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2, while the IP20 rating from above allows standard mains wiring in the ceiling void. The 90-degree tilt allows light to be directed onto walls, artworks or feature areas rather than straight down.
The fitting uses a male-female connector system that separates the downlight body from the mains cable, allowing first-fix wiring to be completed and terminated before decoration, with the luminaire body plugged in and clipped into the ceiling after painting. The same connector allows the fitting to be unplugged for lamp maintenance or redecorating without re-terminating cables. The dimmable driver works with trailing-edge dimmers and the 50,000-hour L70B10 rating suggests the LED will maintain 70% of initial output for approximately 11 years of continuous use.
The white finish pairs with standard white ceilings in residential, hospitality and commercial settings. Knightsbridge produces the SpektroLED Evo in six finishes (white, matt black, brushed chrome, polished chrome, brass, antique brass) sold as separate SKUs. The CCT and wattage are set via switches on the back of the fitting before installation, allowing a single stock item to cover multiple lighting scenarios.

Frequently Asked
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP65 rating from below makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1 and 2 (directly above a bath or shower enclosure). The IP20 rating from above requires standard ceiling void conditions with no water ingress from the loft.
How is the colour temperature changed?
Four CCT settings (2700K, 3000K, 4000K, 6000K) are selected via switches on the back of the fitting before installation. Once the fitting is clipped into the ceiling the setting cannot be changed without removing the downlight.
Is it compatible with dimmer switches?
Yes, but only trailing-edge dimmers. Leading-edge dimmers may cause flicker or fail to dim smoothly. Check dimmer compatibility with the manufacturer before installation, particularly when multiple downlights are controlled from a single dimmer.
What does the tilt mechanism allow?
The inner lamp holder tilts up to 90 degrees within the bezel, allowing light to be directed onto walls, artwork or feature areas rather than straight down. The tilt is adjusted by hand after the fitting is installed.
