Description
The Knightsbridge Lumina is a retrofit LED module designed to replace existing GU10 downlights in open-back ceiling fittings. Built from a single block of milled aluminium with a white finish and prismatic polycarbonate diffuser, the module measures 50mm diameter by 40mm height and houses an SMD LED light source with selectable wattage (6W or 8W) and selectable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K, or 5500K). The aluminium construction provides direct thermal dissipation from the LED to prolong the light source's L70B50 lifespan to 35,000 hours.
Designed for residential and commercial retrofit projects where existing GU10 downlights need upgrading to higher-CRI LED without replacing the entire ceiling fitting, the Lumina uses a plug-and-play driver with loop-in-loop-out capability for daisy-chaining multiple modules on a single circuit. The module runs on 230V 50Hz mains and is dimmable using trailing-edge dimmers only — check dimmer compatibility before installation. The 40-degree beam angle suits general downlighting in kitchens, hallways, bathrooms (IP20 rated, suitable for Zone 3 only) and retail spaces.
The selectable colour temperature switch allows the installer or end user to choose between warm white (3000K), neutral white (4000K) or cool white (5500K) without needing to stock three separate SKUs. The selectable wattage switch adjusts output between 520-575lm at 6W or 700-780lm at 8W depending on the chosen colour temperature, giving flexibility to match the existing lighting scheme's brightness. CRI>90 ensures accurate colour rendering for food preparation areas, retail product displays and residential living spaces. Class II construction means no earth connection is required.
Knightsbridge backs the Lumina with a 5-year warranty. An emergency version is available separately for fire-safety lighting circuits.

Frequently Asked
Is the Lumina compatible with all existing downlight fittings?
The Lumina is designed for open-back downlight fittings where the module can be installed and ventilated properly. It is not suitable for enclosed or sealed fittings where heat cannot dissipate. Check the existing fitting type before ordering.
How do I select the colour temperature and wattage?
The module has two selector switches accessible during installation. One switch selects between 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) and 5500K (cool white). The other switch selects between 6W and 8W output. Both settings can be adjusted by the installer before the module is fitted into the ceiling.
Can multiple Lumina modules be controlled from one dimmer?
Yes. The plug-and-play driver supports loop-in-loop-out wiring, allowing multiple modules to be daisy-chained on a single circuit and controlled by one trailing-edge dimmer. Leading-edge dimmers are not compatible and will cause flickering or failure.
What does CRI>90 mean in practical terms?
CRI (Colour Rendering Index) above 90 means the light source reproduces colours more accurately than standard LEDs, which typically rate CRI 80-85. This matters in kitchens where food colours need to look natural, in retail where product colours must be true, and in living spaces where skin tones and fabrics appear more lifelike under the light.
