Description

The Knightsbridge OS004B is a 180° PIR motion sensor with a 12m detection range at standard 2.4m installation height, housed in a black polycarbonate casing rated IP44 for outdoor and damp indoor use. The sensor head adjusts on a ball joint to direct the detection field towards doorways, driveways, garden paths or garage entrances, switching connected lighting on when movement is detected within the coverage zone.

Designed for exterior security lighting, porch lights, outbuildings and covered outdoor areas, the unit mounts to walls or ceilings using the rear fixing plate and accepts standard 230V mains wiring. Adjustable lux control prevents the sensor triggering in daylight, while the time-delay setting allows the connected load to remain on for between 10 seconds and 8 minutes after the last detected movement. Multiple sensors can be wired in parallel to cover larger areas or L-shaped perimeters.

The sensor switches loads up to 1200W for incandescent lamps or 300W for LED lighting, handling most domestic exterior light fittings without requiring an additional relay. The polycarbonate construction withstands typical UK weather when installed under eaves, canopies or in porch recesses. The compact 86mm x 82mm footprint and 100mm projection from the wall mean the unit sits close to the mounting surface without dominating the visual line of doorframes or building corners.

Frequently Asked

What is the detection range and coverage angle?

The sensor provides 180° horizontal coverage with a 12m detection range when mounted at the standard 2.4m height. The adjustable head allows you to tilt the detection field to optimise coverage for specific areas such as driveways or doorways.

Can it be used outdoors in the rain?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for covered outdoor positions such as under eaves, porch canopies or in recessed doorways. It should not be installed in fully exposed positions where it would receive direct heavy rain or be submerged.

How do the time and lux adjustments work?

The time-delay control sets how long the connected light remains on after the last detected movement, adjustable from 10 seconds to 8 minutes. The lux control sets the ambient light threshold below which the sensor will activate — this prevents the sensor switching lights on during daylight hours.

What lighting loads can it switch?

The sensor handles up to 1200W of incandescent or halogen lighting, or up to 300W of LED lighting. Most domestic exterior light fittings fall within these limits without requiring a separate relay or contactor.
