Kent 1 Light Outdoor Wall Light - Black

The Kent is a single-light outdoor wall lantern with a black metal frame, seeded glass panels and a decorative scroll bracket. The lantern housing measures 165mm wide by 328mm tall, with a 230mm projection from the wall when the bracket is mounted. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits inside the glazed enclosure, protected by the IP44-rated casing which guards against splashing water and solid objects above 1mm.

Designed for covered porches, doorways, courtyard walls and garden room entrances where protection from direct rainfall is provided by an overhang or canopy, the Kent offers traditional styling that references carriage lanterns and Victorian street lighting. The scroll bracket curves upward from the backplate, suspending the lantern at a height that typically positions it 1.6-1.8m above ground level when mounted at standard door-height positions. The black powder-coated finish resists corrosion in sheltered outdoor environments.

The seeded glass panels diffuse light from the internal bulb, softening the beam and reducing harsh shadows around entry points. The decorative metalwork pattern on the glazing bars adds visual detail when the lantern is unlit during daylight. The 60W maximum rating allows for traditional filament bulbs or LED equivalents up to that output, giving flexibility to choose colour temperature and brightness to suit the property's exterior lighting scheme.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 means the fitting is protected against splashing water from any direction and solid objects larger than 1mm. This makes it suitable for covered porches, doorways and areas with overhead shelter, but not for fully exposed wall positions where driving rain hits the lantern directly.

What bulb should I use?

The Kent takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to provide welcoming entrance lighting without excessive brightness. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can this be fitted to brick or rendered walls?

Yes. The backplate has pre-drilled mounting holes for wall plugs and screws. Ensure the fixing method suits the wall material — masonry plugs for brick and block, plasterboard fixings for timber-framed walls, or chemical anchors for soft stone.

How is the seeded glass cleaned?

The glass panels can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent solution. Rinse with clean water and dry to prevent water spotting. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the seeded texture.
