Description
The Kenema is a large round wall clock, 70cm in diameter, built as an open frame so the wall itself shows between the Roman numerals. The outer rim and the numerals carry an antique gold colour. At the centre sits a dark, studded dial with a cluster of copper-coloured gears, set off by long black hands. It is made from metal and glass, and at 6.5KG it is a substantial piece with a real sense of solidity, the kind of clock that reads as part of the room rather than an afterthought.
At this size we see it on a wide stretch of wall: above a sideboard, a console table or a mantelpiece in a living room or dining room, or at the end of a long hallway. Because the frame is open, a pale wall shows straight through it, so the clock fills the space without the visual heaviness of a solid face, while the darker centre and the gears draw the eye. It suits anyone who likes an industrial, workshop look with a vintage edge. The large Roman numerals read clearly from across the room, so it earns its place as a working clock as well as a focal point.
The antique gold colour has a soft, aged look rather than a bright shine, so it sits comfortably alongside black, brass and warm wood, and the copper tones of the gears pick up the same warmth. The clock runs on three AA batteries, also sold as LR6. The batteries are not included, so have a fresh set ready before you hang it. With 6.5KG to carry, we suggest a wall fixing rated for that weight, set into a solid wall.
